Malleus is finished!

..at least for now. I’m sick of stitching at it, and it’s finished enough that I can do the last bits later.

When I get back to NJ, I’ll mount it on a waiting stack of black wool.

The title is outlined in white, the text from Malleus is outlined in red.

I started to outline the men with black thread, but realized that was a mistake.

Now the men and their witch-masks are outlined in blood red, with little or no other stitching. These figures are heinous. I’m leaving them as flat, unadorned evil.

The women and children are heavily embroidered, creating a vast difference between their almost tangible reality and the flat pernicious lies of Malleus.

This mother-daughter scene (below) is wrenching: as the witch-mask descends onto her, the mother tries to comfort her child.

Some of the black text still needs red outlining, the loom needs additional threads, but it’s on to….Marginalia!

While I happily  find the right stitches for all these different critters, next week we begin the research for Fairy Tales. See you then!
