Xu Zheng

My cousin Rob and his wife Pat are travelling in Norway. They found some textile art in an Oslo museum,  and were nice enough to send me this image and info:

Combining internet images from different cultures! Challenging originality with access to infinite images! Yes! I love when someone assembles words to say exactly what I’m trying to do. And he’s even doing it with embroidery, although for the life of me I can’t see any stitching, even in the details:

But I can see that the artist used beads and other materials. I wish I could express my techniques and intentions as elegantly as Xu Zheng.

Also: Disney has decided to cast an African American woman in their live-action version  of The Little Mermaid… and people have been protesting that mermaids cannot be black. That it is not scientifically reasonable for an imaginary creature to be of another race.
