The central image is based on the Opus Anglicanum (English work) of the Middle Ages. Opus Anglicanum was heavily embroidered work done mostly for the church. My version shows an abundance in the top half, and apocalyptic ruin in the bottom half (images were borrowed from the Apocalypse Tapestries of Angiers. Christ’s cruciger globus, his symbol of power, is broken. War (one of the four horsemen pictured) has shot an arrow into it.
The outer border is based on The Paracus Textile, the 2,000 year old Inca masterpiece. Some of the figures from that textile have been copied into my border - but I have added textile figures from many other cultures.
